Getting To Dornoch

 

Below is information on how to get to Dornoch for the Dornoch Whisky Festival.

By Air

The closest airport to Dornoch is Dalcross Airport, otherwise known as Inverness Airport. Inverness Airport offers a range of daily flights to and from a number of key destinations including; London (Heathrow, Gatwick & Luton), Amsterdam, Bristol, Manchester, Birmingham, Dublin, Belfast City, Stornoway, Kirkwall and Sumburgh.

 

Inverness Airport also has two car hire services available in the terminal, these are Avis and Europcar. Information regarding this can be found on their website, here.

 

There are taxi ranks directly outside of the terminal, but it may be worth speaking to some of the companies mentioned below to see if preferable rates may be given to get you directly to Dornoch.

 

Inverness Airport is a fifteen-minute drive from the city centre and easily accessible by taxi or by bus. The bus service is run by Stagecoach and a dedicated Jet Bus service runs every half an hour to the city centre.

By Car

The postcode for the Dornoch Whisky Festival is: IV25 3SD and the map is below. Each event has its own venue so please make sure to check the addresses for those separately.

Quite simply, Dornoch is just off of the A9 main road, so if you're coming from Inverness or further South, follow the signs to the North (Wick/Thurso) until you reach the turnoff to Dornoch which is on the right-hand side. From Inverness, Dornoch is 43 miles which should take roughly an hour. 

Coming from the North, follow the signs on the A9 for the South (Inverness) until you reach the turnoff for Dornoch, which is on the left-hand side. 

There is ample free parking in Dornoch but please remember we operate a strict responsible drinking policy.

 

By Train

Although Dornoch does not have a train station, there are two only a short journey away in Tain or Golspie, both of which are serviced by the North Highland line.

By Bus

Dornoch is serviced by the X99 & X98 bus service which runs from Inverness to Dornoch and Wick & Thurso to Dornoch. Close by, Tain is serviced by the 25X bus service

By Taxi

Please note that there are a limited number of taxi services in the area but they are listed below. We suggest you book these as far in advance as possible to avoid disappointment. If you are planning on getting a taxi from a bus or train station to the Dornoch Whisky Festival, we highly stress the importance of booking this in advance as they will not be serviced by taxi ranks.
