Dornoch Whisky Festival 2016

We were delighted to be joined by Charles Maclean, the well-known whisky writer and taster, who starred in the film ‘The Angel’s Share’, based in the local Balblair Distillery. We had a unique opening event planned on the Friday with Charlie leading a welcome tasting prior to the viewing of Angel’s Share at Balblair itself! It amassed some wonderful feedback and we were glad we could offer the event. Charlie then went on to host a dinner at Links House and led a master class in the new Carnegie Whisky Cellars.

We also offered a Dalmore Masked Dinner at the Royal Golf Hotel and a Glenmorangie Gala Dinner at the Royal Dornoch Golf Club. Our Golf Club has just celebrated 400 years of golf in 2016 so we were happy to say that we offered a golf competition on Sunday.

On Sunday evening, the award-winning Whisky Bar in the Dornoch Castle hosted an ‘Old and Rare Bottle Tasting’ which was another event that went down a treat with those who attended it.

Our main Gala Tasting which was held on Saturday gave attendees the chance to sample whiskies from 16 different distilleries, and we followed that up by a Ceilidh and Barbeque in the evening.

Throughout the weekend, we had a variety of master classes and distillery tours, including Teaninich Distillery and Brora Distillery!
